Jan. 27-31


During integrated reading we will continue our Charlie and Chocolate Factory book study as well as learn about Theodore Roosevelt.
The students will:

- listen and visualize read aloud text Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
- ask and answer questions about key details in read aloud text. (ELACC1SL2)
- retell story including key details. (ELACC1RL2)
- identify who is telling the story at various points in a text. (ELACC1RL6)
- compare and contrast characters in the story. (ELACC1RL9)
- review Long E
- have small group phonics lessons depending on individual needs. (ELACC1.RF.1a, 2b,d, 3a,b,g)
- have differentiated guided reading lessons.
- learn about the contributions President Roosevelt made to the USA. (SS1H1)

During Writing Workshop the students will:
- write opinion pieces stating opinion about given topic, reason for the opinion, and a closing to the writing.(ELACC1.W.1) 
- learn about the 4 types of sentences (declarative, interrogative, imperative, exclamatory)(ELACC1L1.1)

Spelling:
- assessment over list 17 on Friday, 1/31 . (did, down, only, way, find)

In math the students will identify 10 more or less 10 of a given two digit number without having to count, and will be able to explain reasoning used.  (MCC1.NBT.5) 

We will have a  Media Center lesson Friday morning.  The students will have time to check out books after Ms. Fletcher's lesson.

We will have a Wellstar Health lesson on Germs Friday afternoon. 

We will visit the Media Center to check out new books Friday morning. 

We will celebrate the 100th day of school on Thursday, Jan. 23.

Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday will be next Monday , Jan. 20.  This is a school holiday.  

During integrated reading we will learn about Harriet Tubman
and continue our Charlie and Chocolate Factory book study.
