August Curriculum Update: 

Math:
 - Understand that the three digits of a three-digit number represent amounts of hundreds, tens, and ones, 100 can be thought of as a bundle of ten tens (called a “hundred"), and numbers 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900 refer to one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, or nine hundreds (and 0 tens and 0 ones).(MCC2.NBT.1 a, b)
Count within 1000; skip-count by 5s, 10s, and 100s. (MCC2.NBT.2)
Read and write numbers to 1000 using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form (MCC2.NBT.3)

Reading: 
- Reader's Theater scripts based on reading levels (ELACC2RF4)
- read aloud Fudge- a- Mania by Judy Blume (ELACC2SL2)
- learn about character roles and relationships, as well as point of view through read aloud   (ELACC2RL1,3,6)
- learn about story structure and cause and effect through read aloud (ELACC2RL5)

ELA/ Writing:
Write narratives in which they recount a well-elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure. (ELACC2W3)
- Nouns (common, proper, pronouns, possessive nouns) ELACC2L1
- Write friendly letters to parents (ELACC2L2)
- prefixes and suffixes (ELACC2L4.b,c)
-  contractions (ELACC2L2.a)

Science: 
Students will investigate the properties of matter and changes that occur in objects.
*Identify the three common states of matter as solid, liquid, or gas. (SCI.2.S2P1.a)

Welcome Back!



I am super excited about this new school year!  

Here are some important information and dates.

Specials schedule:

Friday- PE

- Open House will be Tuesday, August 12 from 6 to 7 for Kindergarten, First and Second grades. 

- Surrender the Booty fundraiser will begin on Aug. 11- Aug. 22

- Chick-fil-A family night will be August 19, 5:30- 7:30.

- Watchdog Pizza night will be August 26 at 6:00.
