October 14- 18

You guessed it...our new unit will be BATS!

Through this Informational text unit, the students will:
- ask and answer questions about details in text. (ELACC1.RI.1)
- identify main topic and retell key details in text. (ELACC1.RI.2)
- describe connection between two pieces of information in text. (ELACC1.RI.3)
- ask and answer questions to help determine or clarify meaning of words in text. (ELACC1.RI.4)
- know and use various text features (table of content, headings, glossaries, electronic menus) to local key       features or information in text. (ELACC1.RI.5)

In math we will have lessons and centers where the students will determine if given equations are true or false. (MCC1.OA.7: Understands the meaning of the equal sign AND determines if equations are true or false)  In addition the students will continue to reinforce their math facts with their flash cards, as well as sustain their number sense through math centers.

In writing we will work on enhancing the students' narrative writings with the use of temporal words.(ELACC1.W.3) We will also review how to form letters correctly and using appropriate spacing between words and sentences. (ELACC1.L.1a,k)

For phonic we will be reviewing the short vowels o and u.  The students will have a small group phonic lesson with me depending on each individual needs. (ELACC1.RF.1a, 2.b,d, 3.a,b,g)
The students will have small group guided reading lessons will me throughout the week.  These groups and lessons are based on students' needs and are differentiated. (ELACC1.RF.4.a,b,c)

We will be working on all the above standards, AND we will be preparing for conferences.  I am looking forward to seeing all you with your child next week at our scheduled conference time
